Convex

GTM Engineer

Posted 1 week ago

About the role

Convex is hiring its first GTM Engineer. Thousands of developers sign up for Convex every week; some are kicking the tires and some are quietly building the next big company. Your job is to build the systems that find the signal in that noise and act on it at the right moment without being annoying. You'll design and ship the workflows and data infrastructure that turn product and market signal into pipeline, plus the internal apps and agents that compound the commercial team's output. Because Convex sells to developers, generic outbound doesn't work and the most valuable signal lives in product usage, and the company is explicit that it won't ship AI slop.

What you'll do

  • Turn product usage into GTM signal: model which deploys are getting serious, surface intent when a team crosses a threshold, and route it to the right play or person automatically
  • Build agent-plus-human outbound that's genuinely useful
  • Build AI agents and internal tools for the commercial team
  • Audit the stack, set your own backlog and decide when to buy versus build, including the unglamorous data cleanup
  • Write GTM code on Convex itself (they dogfood)
  • Measure results and double down on what works

What they ask for

  • A few years building revenue and automation systems, via RevOps, sales ops, growth engineering or software engineering
  • Technical enough to wire systems together: APIs, data and some code (SQL, a scripting language or TypeScript)
  • Hands-on experience inside a modern GTM stack
  • Real-world AI experience, including using Claude Code or Codex to build things yourself
  • Systems thinking about scale, failures and duplicate events
  • Interest in working in person at Convex's San Francisco office

Nice to have

  • Exposure to technical or developer-led sales motions
  • Has built something on Convex

Benefits

  • Salary above $160,000
  • Equity

About Convex

Convex is a full-stack backend platform for developers and AI agents, combining database, compute and backend abstractions so teams can build fast, reliable, dynamic apps without a backend team. Its team has built some of the largest platforms in the world and works mostly in person in San Francisco.
